Community Programs
Community Programs in Simcoe Muskoka provide community-based support services, life skills programming, and reintegration support for youth and adults throughout the Muskoka region and Simcoe County. Programs focus on emotional well-being, independent living skills, housing support, community reintegration, harm reduction, and access to community resources.

Who We Serve
Programs support youth ages 14 to 20, adults 14 years of age and over, individuals on parole, and adults experiencing homelessness or transitioning from provincial institutions.

Availability
Referrals may come from community agencies, courts, parole and probation offices, health care providers, parents, self-referrals, and other community partners depending on the program.

- Emotions Management, Grief and Loss, Anti-Theft, Healthy Relationships, and Substance Use and Harm Reduction programs
- Youth Trustee support for Ontario Works applications, housing searches, food bank access, job readiness, and community referrals
- Safe Independent Choices workshops focused on independence, healthy relationships, internet safety, and human trafficking awareness
- Group programming, workshops, and community service opportunities for youth
- Transitional support for individuals being discharged from hospitals and correctional facilities into the community
- Assistance with temporary or permanent housing and shelter connections
- Mental health and harm reduction supports
- One-on-one counselling and psycho-educational programming for individuals on parole

Rural and Remote Programs in Muskoka
Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka offers core Community Programs including: Emotions Management, Grief and Loss, Anti-Theft, Healthy Relationships, and Substance Use and Harm Reduction. Programs are offered to youth and adults 14 years of age and over throughout the Muskoka region. Individuals can be referred from community agencies, courts, parole, probation offices, and health care providers.
Youth Trustee Program Simcoe County and Muskoka®
The Youth Trustee Program will help you at every stage of the process of applying for financial benefits through Ontario Works, accessing your benefits, and transitioning out of the program. If you are 16 or 17 years old and no longer live with a parent or guardian, you qualify for a consultation meeting with a Youth Trustee Worker. While enrolled in the Youth Trustee Program, your Trustee Worker will assist you with program requirements, referrals to other agencies, housing searches, access to the food bank, job readiness, and other resources.
Safe Independent Choices (SIC) Program®
Designed for youth ages 14 to 20 living in the District of Muskoka, the Safe Independent Choices program helps youth develop strong emotional and social skills, gain confidence in making safe choices, and learn navigate the life independently. This program covers topics including; social and internet safety, independence, healthy choices, healthy relationships, and human trafficking. Delivered in groups and workshops, this program gives youth the opportunity to learn life skills, make connections with other youth and gain community service hours. Anyone can refer a youth to the program, including a community agency, parent, or the youth themselves.
Purposeful integration team (PIT)
The Purposeful Integration Team is designed to address priorities identified by the broader community in the Barrie-Simcoe Community Homelessness Plan 2019 – 2024, by providing transitional services to individuals experiencing homelessness when being released from the local Provincial institution, including hospitals and correctional facilities.
The objective of the Purposeful Integration Team is to actively reduce the number of individuals discharged from provincial institutions into homelessness in our community.
Program eligibility includes; individuals of any gender, over the age of 18, who identify as having no fixed address when discharging from provincial institutions into the community of Simcoe County.
Purposeful Integration Team will assist individuals in identifying temporary or permanent housing/shelter in supporting the transition from the institution while connecting participants to community resources to address; housing, mental health, and harm reduction.
Reporting Centre Program Facilitator
The program facilitator works with individuals that are on parole assisting with community reintegration one-on-one counselling and facilitation of our core programs, through psycho-educational programming including: Emotions Management, Grief and Loss, Anti-Theft, and Healthy Relationships.

Community Maintenance Program Facilitator
Community Maintenance Program Facilitator delivers the Community Maintenance Program to men under Parole supervision of Correctional Service Canada. Services are facilitated individually and in group formats.
